BEng Engineering Surveying from Nottingham Trent University (1994). First employment was for a Civil & Structural Consultancy. The survey tasks were varied and included the following. Topographical surveys, setting out, deformation monitoring, floor plan surveys and volumetric surveys. I moved to the Ordnance Survey in 1996. Working out of the London office I helped to keep the capitals 1:1250 digital mapping up to date. The lure of adventure enticed me into working overseas for the oil and gas exploration industry and I left the UK in 1998. I worked in North Africa, Russia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. I formed this company in late 2002.
In addition to this I have been on 4 expeditions to survey Mount Etna, Sicily. The method of survey on the first expedition was trilateration (angle and distance measurements). On subsequent trips GPS was used. The intention was to measure the deformation of the mountain to hopefully find a correlation between observed movements with volcanic activity.
